What happens if I return the vehicle late?

Being slightly late does not automatically mean you will be charged for an extra day:

  • Up to 1 hour late: no penalty.
  • More than 1 hour late: a penalty of up to 3,000 DZD per hour of delay.
  • More than 4 hours late: two-thirds of the price of a full rental day is charged.

If the return takes place between 7:00 pm and 6:30 am, the €15 night surcharge also applies. If you expect to be late, let us know or extend your rental from your customer account.

How do I get an invoice?

Invoices are not sent automatically: they are issued on request after the vehicle has been returned. Send your request by email to contact@safarelamir.com or via our contact form, stating:

  • the booking number;
  • the driver's name;
  • the email address the invoice should be sent to;
  • for a company, the full tax details (company name, NIF, NIS, RC, address).

Processing time: 48 hours to 7 days. You can also use the same address for any question about an invoiced item or the refund of your security deposit.

What is the difference between a penalty and damage?

A penalty sanctions a breach of the rental terms and is charged as an extra. For example:

  • vehicle not returned with a full tank;
  • failure to respect the return time or location;
  • exceeding the included mileage;
  • unauthorised extension (25,000 DZD on top of the cost of the extension);
  • towing and recovery costs (excluding normal wear and tear).

Damage is any harm to the vehicle found when it is returned; it is deducted from the security deposit only. For example: scratches, dents, tires, bumpers, lights, windows and mirrors, damaged interior, missing equipment or documents, vehicle returned dirty.

What counts as a breach of contract, and what are the consequences?

The rental contract is breached in particular in the event of:

  • use of the vehicle for illegal activities;
  • driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or transporting such substances;
  • leaving Algerian territory;
  • lending or subletting the vehicle to a person not named on the contract;
  • failure to respect the agreed return times and location.

In such cases, SAFAR EL AMIR reserves the right to terminate the contract with immediate effect without refunding the remaining days, to withhold the security deposit to cover the costs, and to refuse any future rental. The associated protections may also be canceled.
